Carbon Footprint

Geotexan is committed to minimising our carbon footprint, conserving resources and improving our energy management and we are now accredited to the ISO 50001 energy management system. The ISO 50001 standard provides a practical way to improve energy use through the development of an energy management system (EnMS).

The ISO 50001 provides a framework for organizations to demonstrate:

  • Develop a policy for more efficient use of energy
  • Fix targets and objectives to meet the policy
  • Use data to better understand and make decisions about energy use
  • Measure the results
  • Review how well the policy works, and
  • Continually improve energy management.

As part of our commitment to support our stakeholders and construction partners working towards a Carbon Net Zero future, we work on offering products that reduce carbon footprint of construction and that are produced in the most sustainable way.

In all situations where geosynthetics replace traditional construction methods, a big reduction in embodied carbon is involved when compared to the transportation and installation of large volumes of aggregates. CO2 savings of between 50-90% are possible, for example:

  • Geotextile filter layers vs mineral filtration layers
  • Geocomposites for structural drainage vs concrete blocks
  • Fin drains for trackside and carriageway drainage vs french drains
